Aeronautical Explorations (AE) is a three-week career and technical education (CTE) summer program designed for Washington State rising 9th–12th graders interested in the aviation industry. Students will explore diverse aviation careers such as air traffic control, airline dispatch, professional pilot, airport management, and unmanned aerial systems. The program emphasizes hands-on learning, including drone operation, utilizing state-of-the-art flight simulators, and engaging in team-based projects like researching major airlines and designing airports. Participants will meet and learn from aviation industry professionals and educators, developing professional skills in public speaking, research, and presentation. The program also offers the opportunity to earn high school CTE credits through the Puget Sound Skills Center and can help prepare students for the FAA Commercial Drone Part 107 Exam. Upon completion, students become eligible for Museum of Flight scholarships and receive a complimentary Connections educational membership.
Students attend class daily for the entire day, engaging in hands-on projects, touring Museum galleries, and participating in team challenges, often with special guest speakers from the aerospace industry.
