Camp BIOmed offers high school students a unique, hands-on science adventure in a university lab setting. Participants engage in scientific exploration and experimentation, building essential lab skills and gaining insight into biomedical careers. The camp features six exciting tracks, allowing students to delve into topics such as the molecular biology of cancer, genetic engineering, crime scene investigation (CSI), microbiology, bioinformatics, and global health. Through real lab techniques, hands-on experiments, and analysis of patient case studies, students learn how biomedical research is conducted, from discovery to testing. The program aims to increase understanding of ethical considerations in research and promote awareness of various science careers, fostering a supportive community among students, educators, and scientists.
Each camp session runs Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 3 PM, with a culminating expo held on Friday from 1 PM to 3 PM where students share their week's projects with family and friends.
